When moving into a new home, the decision is so much more than just bricks and mortar. The location and access to amenities has to be right too, so that you can balance home life with a sense of lifestyle on your doorstep.
At West Cliff Mansions, an exclusive new development of one, two and three bedroom residences on Hahnemann Road in Bournemouth, you really have the best of both worlds. Not only is the beach within reach, but there are also a host of restaurants and bars within just a ten minute walk, one of which has just been voted the fifth best restaurant for vegan food in the WORLD!*
With such a high commendation, we felt compelled to check it out…
Located on The Triangle, this chic looking establishment first opened its doors in 2018, having been fully restored from a previously dilapidated building. This in itself is testament to the owners’ vision for bringing plant-based food and an organic mindset to the town.
We spoke to Dalton Mello, co-owner of this eatery and cold-pressed juice bar: “When we opened, our goal was simple. To bring high quality, plant-based food blended with a high-end dining experience. The restaurant is relaxed, the food is fine and the service is another level. We think that people have been accepting mediocre for far too long, and our vision is to change mindsets and re-educate our customers around healthy eating. In fact, 80% of our visitors are meat eaters that are open to new culinary experiences and we’re really thinking about their diets and lifestyle. The pandemic has brought about a lifestyle revolution, with many people migrating to the town from London, and we’re tapping into this holistic world of change as, when it comes to fine dining, people’s expectations are evolving for the better.”
For Dalton and his business partner Greg Rush, both of whom worked at high-end London restaurants before going it alone, this venture is not about veganism, but more about providing amazing food. Alongside their world-wide acclaim, Twelve is also the first organic bar in the UK, providing beautiful cocktails with high quality cold press juice, as well as zero and low sulphur wines. And you can taste the difference!
They source all their fresh produce locally, which supports the wider community, there is no single use plastic on-site, and the provenance of the name?? “Well vitamin B12 is in all of our food, and we thought of the name before we’d even found a place to base ourselves.” said Greg, “Our ethos is to provide food based on nutrition, and we even worked with a nutritionist on the menu, to ensure a perfect balance. And when we found this building at The Triangle, and it was number 12 – well, it just had to be, right!”
Sounds right to us, so whether it’s for a smoothie, or a full on meal, pop in, say hi and tell them we sent you.
